Acriflavine-MS FAQs

Do I need to change water before or after treatment?

Water changes are vital to maintaining the best possible water quality. Although not necessary, performing a partial water change before treatment will help improve overall aquarium conditions. We do recommend performing a partial water change when you have finished with any aquarium treatment.

Can Acriflavine-MS be used with other products in the aquarium?

Acriflavine-MS can be used with phosphate and/or ammonia absorbents, but you do have to remove carbon and carbon-like products from your filtration system.

Acriflavine-MS can also used safely used with FishVet Methylene Blue or antibiotics in the aquarium.

How do I dose Acriflavine-MS?

To treat for external parasites or bacterial infections:
Add 1 teaspoon per 10 gallons of aquarium water. Treat daily after 25% to 50% water change. Adjust dose to match amount of changed water.

To use as a bath (for preventing bacterial infections of fish eggs):
Add 1 teaspoon per 5 gallons of water. After eggs hatch, remove Acriflavine-MS by use of carbon and/or water changes. Use one dose only.

Can Acriflavine-MS be used as a prophylactic?

Acriflavine-MS (as well as any other treatment) should not be added continually into any aquarium.

In what sizes is Acriflavine-MS available?

Acriflavine-MS is available in 1.25 oz., 4 oz., 16 oz., and 32 oz. bottles.
